climb power boulders with me!
My newest vlog is up! Today we are doing a bouldering volume session in the "TBA room" at my gym.
These are straightforward, powerful climbs that test your ability to be dynamic and commit. Come climb the new set with me!
Here are some more details of the workout from the video:
Boulder Volume Workout
The goal of this session is to climb on a variety of *new to you* boulders. While this is a higher volume session, it's important to still be very intentional with your attempts.
As you warm up on the new climbs, try to flash as many of the climbs as you can. If you do not flash, reflect on what information you learned from your first attempt and what you will change for your next attempt. Only attempt each climb for a maximum of 3 tries.
Work up to boulders ~2-3 grades below your redpoint level and try between 10-20 boulders depending on your capacity level.
*NOTE* With these higher volume sessions, it's crucial to be mindful of the stress you are putting on your body and they should not be performed super frequently.
The frequency will depend on the purpose of the session for you (building capacity, maintaining capacity, etc.).
For myself in this video, I performed this higher volume session because I've been spending a lot of time bouldering outside.
When I'm projecting boulders outside, the intensity is high but the volume is quite low - only trying 1-2 moves at a time and taking long rests in between.
I wanted to make sure I was still getting some volume into maintain a level of capacity and keep my power and movement skills up.
